FAQ

Why does Dictando need microphone access?

Dictando uses the microphone to capture speech for dictation. Without microphone access, voice input does not work.

Why does the keyboard ask for Full Access?

Full Access is required so the keyboard can communicate with the Dictando companion app and use network-based AI processing. Without Full Access, the keyboard cannot complete dictation.

Why do I see the orange microphone indicator?

If Background Voice Mode is on, iOS shows the orange microphone indicator while Dictando keeps the mic ready. Dictando only uploads audio when you tap dictate.

Where does my dictation go?

Dictando sends dictation audio and transcript text to Groq to transcribe and clean your text. You must explicitly allow that processing in the app before Dictando will upload dictation content.

How do I revoke AI processing consent?

Open the Account tab in Dictando and revoke AI Processing Consent. Dictando will stop sending dictation content until you allow it again.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Account and tap Delete Account. You can also email contact@dictando.app.

Does the current iOS build include App Store subscriptions?

No. The current iOS build does not include StoreKit purchases or App Store subscriptions.
