1. Who we are
Dictando is operated by HolaAI. This policy explains how the current iOS build of Dictando handles your data when you use dictation, the Dictando keyboard, and account features.

Jurisdiction: Spain / European Union
2. What data Dictando handles
Audio input
When you start dictation, Dictando records audio on your device and sends that audio to Groq for transcription. If you enable Background Voice Mode, Dictando keeps the microphone active in the host app so the keyboard can start dictation quickly, but Dictando only uploads audio when you tap dictate.
Dictando does not store raw audio on its own servers after transcription. In the current iOS build, raw audio is processed for the active request and then discarded.
Transcript text and edited text
Dictando sends transcript text to Groq for cleanup and formatting. Dictando does not keep transcript text or cleaned text on its servers after the response is returned. If you use the in-app history feature, the transcript and cleaned result are stored locally on your device until you clear them or delete your account from the app.
Prompt, rewrite, or translation content
If Dictando adds prompt-generation, rewrite, or translation features in a future build, the text you submit for those features will be treated as user content and processed under the same third-party AI disclosure model described here. The current iOS build is focused on dictation and cleanup.
Account data
Dictando supports Sign in with Apple or Google backed by Supabase. Depending on the method you choose, we receive and store account data needed to authenticate you, such as your email address, profile image, Supabase user ID, and session records.
Local device data
Dictando stores settings, custom dictionary entries, usage stats, onboarding state, AI processing consent state, and local dictation history on your device using app storage and shared app-group storage.
Diagnostics and analytics
The current iOS build does not include a dedicated third-party advertising SDK, mobile analytics SDK, or crash-reporting SDK. Dictando may still create ordinary server logs needed for security, debugging, and service operations.
3. How we use data
- To authenticate your account and keep you signed in.
- To transcribe speech and clean dictation output.
- To operate the keyboard companion flow and Background Voice Mode.
- To store your local preferences and history on your device.
- To answer support requests and handle deletion or data requests.
- To secure the service and investigate abuse or failures.
4. Third-party processors
Dictando shares certain data with third parties that help us run the service:
- Groq: receives audio and transcript text to transcribe and clean dictation output.
- Supabase: stores account records and handles authentication.
- Apple and Google: provide the available sign-in methods.
- Resend: may deliver waitlist or support-related email.
5. Retention
- Raw audio: not retained by Dictando after the transcription request completes.
- Transcript and cleaned text on Dictando servers: not retained after the active request completes.
- Local history, custom dictionary, and stats: kept on your device until you clear them, remove the app, or delete your account from the app.
- Account records: kept until account deletion, unless a shorter or longer retention period is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
6. Your choices
- Revoke AI processing consent in the Dictando Account tab. After revocation, Dictando stops uploading dictation content until you consent again.
- Revoke microphone access in iOS Settings.
- Disable keyboard Full Access in iOS Settings if you no longer want the keyboard to communicate with the companion app.
- Delete your account in the app or email contact@dictando.app.
- Request a copy of your account data before deletion by emailing contact@dictando.app. Dictando does not currently offer self-serve export.
7. Account deletion
If you initiate deletion from the app, Dictando starts deleting your account immediately. That flow removes the server-side account and clears local dictation history, custom dictionary entries, and stats from the device where you started deletion.
To request deletion by email instead, contact contact@dictando.app from the email address linked to your account.
8. Contact
For privacy questions, deletion requests, or data access requests, email contact@dictando.app.
